Disabled couple fights for right to care for newborn son

Disabled couple fights for right to care for newborn son | CTV News

This happened about a month ago. Parenting with a disability is controversial. I say, if a couple is physically, psychologically, and socially able to care for a baby, why not? On the other hand, parenting is a privilege - not a human right. Most people can make a baby, but it doesn't mean eveyone should.

I know the mother at the center of this firestorm. Though kind-hearted and sweet, I do not feel she will be a fit parent. She is immature. Perhaps this was why Children's Aid was alerted. Maybe it had little to do with physical limatations and more to do the immaturity of the mother and father. They have been allowed to keep their son.

A child is a gift. I hope he is raised as one - not as a way of proving anything to society about those with disabilties.
